Exceptional Drought Resistance

Tahoma 31 stands out as an ideal grass for Colorado’s semi-arid climate due to its exceptional drought resistance. Developed through extensive research, this variety is tailored to thrive with minimal water, making it a cost-effective and eco-friendly option for homeowners. Its deep-rooting system taps into subsoil moisture more effectively than other types, ensuring a lush, green appearance even during dry spells.

Cold Tolerance for Rocky Mountain Winters

This hardy variety of sod has been scientifically crafted to withstand the cold and often unpredictable winters of Colorado. Tahoma 31 maintains its integrity and color even when temperatures plummet, making it a reliable green blanket throughout the seasons. Its resilience to frost and snow ensures that your lawn will emerge in spring as vibrant as it was in the fall.

Fine Texture for a Premium Finish

Beyond its durability, Tahoma 31 offers a fine, dense texture that creates a luxurious carpet-like appearance for your landscape. Its fine blades allow it to be cut to a short length, providing a smooth, even surface that’s not only beautiful to look at but also pleasant underfoot. This premium finish is one of the reasons Tahoma 31 is highly sought after for residential and commercial lawns alike.

Low Maintenance Requirements

For those seeking a low-maintenance lawn solution, Tahoma 31 is the ideal choice. It requires less mowing compared to other grasses and is less prone to disease, which reduces the need for chemical treatments. The result is a more natural, easier-to-care-for lawn that frees up your time to enjoy the outdoor beauty of Colorado.

The Durability of Spruce Trees

Spruce trees, with their impressive resilience, are a staple in Colorado’s diverse ecology. Capable of enduring the state’s variable climate, these conifers stand tall through heavy snows and dry summers alike. Their hardiness makes them a low-maintenance yet steadfast addition to any landscape, symbolizing strength and permanence.

Year-Round Splendor: The Evergreen Advantage

The enduring greenery of spruce trees provides a perpetual backdrop of vitality to Colorado properties. Unlike deciduous trees that lose their leaves, spruce trees maintain their needles all year, offering a constant display of natural beauty. This evergreen advantage ensures that your property remains vibrant and full of life, regardless of the season.

Natural Privacy Screens: The Dense Foliage of Spruces

Spruce trees are nature’s privacy screens, their dense branches creating a secluded retreat in your backyard. This natural barrier not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space but also serves as a sound buffer and windbreak, enhancing the tranquility and comfort of your landscape.

Ecosystem Enhancers: Supporting Wildlife with Spruce Trees

By integrating spruce trees into your landscape, you contribute to local ecosystems. These trees offer habitats for various bird species and other wildlife, promoting biodiversity. Their cones serve as a food source during scarce winter months, making spruce trees not just a landscaping choice, but a beacon of life.

Plant Selections that Thrive in Colorado

Plants

Colorful Perennials: The Yearly Palette of Your Garden

Perennial plants are the brushstrokes of color that paint your Colorado landscape year after year. Their ability to bloom each season provides a dynamic and evolving canvas, enriching your garden with a variety of hues. Hardy and adaptable, these perennials offer a sustainable option for a vibrant garden that’s in sync with Colorado’s unique climate.

Accentuating with Ornamental Grasses

Ornamental grasses bring an element of graceful movement and an architectural dimension to Colorado gardens. With minimal maintenance and a tolerance for the local climate, they offer an array of colors, textures, and heights that can complement any garden design, adding year-round interest and a natural, flowing aesthetic.

Shrubs and Bushes

Shrubs and bushes provide structure and form to the Colorado landscape, serving as the foundational elements of garden design. These versatile plants can be used to create natural borders, enhance privacy, and add depth to your garden. With a selection of species that are acclimated to Colorado’s conditions, these woody plants are a resilient and enduring choice.

Alpine and Rock Garden Favorites

Alpine and rock garden plants are a testament to nature’s tenacity, thriving in the challenging conditions of Colorado’s high altitudes and rocky soils. These specialized plants are perfect for creating eye-catching rockeries or alpine gardens, where they provide unique textures and an array of forms that celebrate the state’s mountainous terrain.

We offer three varieties of sod: Tahoma 31, Colorado Blue, and RTF sod. The choice depends on your property’s specific conditions and your preferences. Tahoma 31 is renowned for its drought resistance and cold tolerance, making it suitable for Colorado’s variable weather. Colorado Blue is valued for its vibrant color and texture, while RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) is chosen for its ability to repair itself and thrive in shade. We assess your property’s sun exposure, usage, and maintenance preferences to recommend the best option for your landscape.

Integrating compost into the soil before laying sod improves soil structure, enhances nutrient content, and boosts moisture retention. This creates an ideal bed for the sod roots to establish quickly and deeply, leading to a healthier, more resilient lawn.

Tilling the soil to a depth of one foot allows for thorough integration of compost and breaks up compacted layers. This process promotes root penetration, enhances water drainage, and facilitates aeration, which are crucial for the long-term health and stability of the sod.

We install a variety of trees such as Baby Blue Eyes, Fat Alberts, and Colorado Blue Spruce—each valued for their cold hardiness and suitability to Colorado’s climate. Pinion Pines and Ponderosa Pines are drought-resistant, making them perfect for the arid zones. Autumn Blaze Maples and Hot Wing Maples offer stunning fall colors, while Chanticleer Pears and Cleveland Pears are cherished for their spring blossoms. Aspens are loved for their quaking leaves and ability to thrive in cooler, well-drained soils.

Baby Blue Eyes are a smaller, more compact variety of spruce, ideal for smaller spaces, while Fat Alberts provide a classic, large conical shape, suitable as a focal point. Colorado Blue Spruce is known for its striking blue foliage and serves well as a windbreak or privacy screen.

Pinion Pines are small to medium-sized with a rich pine scent, often used for xeriscaping. Ponderosa Pines are large, majestic trees that can provide ample shade and adapt well to the variable temperatures and altitudes of Colorado.

Autumn Blaze Maples offer a brilliant red-orange fall color and have a fast growth rate, while Hot Wing Maples provide a smaller stature with red samaras or “wings” that add a unique contrast to the green foliage.

Both trees are known for their ornamental value, producing beautiful white flowers in spring. They are resistant to most diseases, can tolerate different soil types, and are relatively low-maintenance, providing a stately appearance to any landscape.

Aspens are favored for their beautiful white bark, trembling golden leaves in the fall, and the pleasant rustling sound they make in the breeze. They grow quickly and can create natural clumps, adding a distinctive look to the landscape.

Wichita Blue Junipers are planted 3 feet apart to form a dense, blue-green privacy hedge. They require minimal maintenance, are drought-tolerant once established, and may need occasional pruning to maintain the desired shape.

Generally, 5-gallon shrubs should be spaced about 3-4 feet apart, and 1-gallon grasses about 1.5-2 feet apart, depending on the species and the size they will reach at maturity. This spacing ensures that each plant has enough room to grow without competing for nutrients and sunlight.

Choosing 5-gallon shrubs can provide immediate impact, as they are more mature and larger at the time of planting. However, 1-gallon grasses can be a cost-effective choice for larger areas and will fill in over time, offering a more gradual but often just as rewarding transformation.

Selecting perennials involves considering

the local climate, soil conditions, sunlight exposure, and your personal aesthetic preferences. We start by assessing the garden space to determine which perennials will thrive, taking into account the balance of color, bloom times, and textures to ensure your garden has a continuous and cohesive appeal throughout the seasons. Upon selection, we prepare the soil by amending it with organic matter to provide a nutrient-rich base. Perennials are then carefully planted at the correct depth and spaced to accommodate their growth habits, ensuring they have the room needed to flourish. After planting, we offer detailed care instructions and support, so you can enjoy a lively and blooming garden year after year.
